Orchestra Information

Mayo Concert Orchestra has around 40 members ranging in age, who come from throughout Mayo and beyond. Each year we also welcome musicians who are passing through Mayo on short-term contracts or student exchanges. Due to the range of music and the amount of concerts we perform all members do need to have reached a relatively high level of musical ability.

The orchestra regularly welcomes new members.  All sections of the orchestra are represented: strings, woodwind, brass and percussion.

We perform everything from classical to pop as well as accompanying a range of well known artists.   A selection of our performances includes Handel’s Messiah, Irish classics with Séan Keane, Absolute 80’s and 90’s pop songs, Gospel music with Chapel Street Gospel Choir, Original music by Brian Duffy and new stage performance Fianne Oir. All these performances take us to a wide variety of performance venues from local churches, national stages and even Broadway, New York.

Joining the orchestra

Registration takes place each September or throughout the year in consultation with the musical director. The registration fee is €120 per adult, and €60 per child/student (€150 family discount). Membership enables you to join one or more groups within Music West.
